Creating Content for your Blog
The Magic 6-steps to Blog Content Creation
You do NOT have be overwhelmed about the writing. It’s easier than you think. It CAN be reduced to bite sized, doable pieces, I promise.
The six things that will make a blog simple and effective are:-
HOW do we WRITE!
A tip from a writer. Your blog only needs to be two paragraphs three times a week. So sit with a two-minute timer on a designated day and just brainstorm topics that pertain to your business or industry. Then circle four or five that you like. Write ten sentences about those topics. Tie it together and you’re done! If you REALLY can’t write, remember that you don’t necessarily have to write your OWN blog, you can download shared articles from online article servers, such as ezinearticles.com or goarticles.com – just remember to follow the rules closely and keep all of the writer’s contact information intact. You might want to script an intro paragraph and a closing paragraph with YOUR contact info also, so that the last thing the reader sees is a statement from you. You can refer to the material as your “guest blogger of the week” if that feels comfortable to you.”
WHAT do we WRITE!
The most important thing to keep in mind about blogging is that you’ll hopefully be writing it A LOT. So be sure to follow the first rule of writing, write what you know! And choose a topic where you won’t run out of material any time soon. It’s ALWAYS better to write about your expertise, though, simply because it brands you in BIG ways. So, you can definitely blog about your background, your expertise, your EXPERIENCES with your work and company (always a big one because people like to read the STORIES other people go through. You can also write about events in your industry and even your clients (with their permission).
WHAT do you do with it!
One of the most effective ways to publicise your Blog is to Social Bookmark it. Every time I write a new item for my Blog I send it out to Social Bookmark sites; Social Media Sites and I can even email it to my email list . It takes no more than 20 minutes…and this is the best 20 minutes you’ll ever invest in yourself. It’s so simple by using the “Tell a Friend” button. Have a look at my site FionaMaryOnline.com and you’ll see the “Tell a Friend” button in action. Get the button for yourself from www.socialtwist.com. Another thing to do is “Ping” your blog, which lets the search engines know you’ve added new content, so they will come and have a look. Go to www.pingomatic.com

All of this is simple…when you learn how…and with my Coaching you can learn how.
SHOWCASE Expertise!
Blogging is an amazing opportunity to share your expertise and to create a doorway for potential clients to find you. It is a chance for you to share your expertise, qualifications and background. If you blog “here and there” about whatever strikes your fancy, your missing a great opportunity to brand yourself, so be consistent. First of all, a blog is a good way to get your contact information out there and build your online presence.
TAG Words!
ANY opportunity we have to tag an article or a blog is a chance to create another straight line to our website, our shopping cart, our social media profiles etc. Tag = Keyword = Keyword phrase…they are the same thing. So Tagging is SEO. T“Tags” are essentially “Keywords”. These days “Tag Word” and “Keyword” don’t cut it…you need to be using “Keyword Phrases” or “Tag Phrases”. Many people believe that “Tags”, “Keywords” or “Keyword Phrases” are words used in the text of an article or the script of a video. But this is not necessarily so. Yes, use your name as a Tag but overall these words and phrases are only useful if people are searching for them. For example it is pointless using “birds in the garden” if no-one is searching that phrase. This is why Keyword Research is critical. And my Coaching will teach you how to do this…and do this effectively!! So when using “Tags” during your journey around the internet…you need to be using the Keyword Phrases you have chosen for your Blog. Five maximum and use them all the time and everywhere!!
SELL SELL SELL!
A great blog easily fits into an overall sales effort. First of all, you can use your blog for 99% of your sales content on social media – for instance, break your blog into Tweets and add effective, trackable links to the end to create traffic to your website, blog page, newsletter, shopping cart, etc. When it comes to Twitter, be sure to follow the 8/2 rule. Post 8 “altruistic” tweets or learning-based tweets that have NO sell in order to set the stage for your two “sales” tweets, those would have links to your website, events or shopping cart.
You can also use your blog as your ezine or newsletter – or as your message to your Facebook Group. Be sure to always use a PS line at the end of the blog – a PS line is so important. We know that 90% of people WILL read the PS and the PSS to a note. So if you DO NOT use a PS, you’re leaving money on the table. You can also feature other, big players on your blog to come up on THEIR Google searches. Finally, multipurpose your content. Like we said earlier, think of your blog as the trunk of a tree. Coming out are branches. One says, ezinearticles.com (where you’ll post your blogs as full-length articles). Another will say fastcompany.com or maybe ivillage.com (these are other sites that allow you to post your profile and blog). Another will say Linkedin Groups (where you can post 1 paragraph of your blog 2 or 3 times a week as “discussions”). Another is your ezine, the leaves are your tweets – you get the picture.
Next post we will look at some 'secret weapons' for your Blog.
